Terms of Service
Last updated October 21, 2026
The short version. This is the full agreement, but here is what matters most:
- New subscribers get a 7-day free trial. Unless you cancel before it ends, the price of the plan you chose is charged to your card and renews automatically every month until you cancel. Cancel anytime from Manage billing in the app.
- Starter covers one state and 500 groups each calendar month; Pro covers every state with no monthly limit. A group counts the first time you open its details or download it in a month. Searching is free.
- If you cancel, you keep access to the end of the month you paid for. We don't refund partial months.
- The data comes from public Form 5500 filings. It can be out of date or wrong, and it isn't a quote or advice. Check it before you rely on it.
- You follow the rules for contacting people, including do-not-call, text-message and email laws, and you don't resell the data.
1. Who this agreement is with
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are an agreement between you and EB Catalyst Group, LLC ("EB Catalyst," "we," "us"). They cover the Renewal Finder website at renewals.ebcatalystgroup.com, the search app, and anything else we provide with it (together, the "Service").
The Service is for business use by employee benefits professionals: brokers, consultants, general agencies and their staff. By checking the box at sign-up, or by using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you sign up for a company, you confirm you are authorized to bind it, and "you" means that company and you. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What the Service does
Renewal Finder lets you search information about employee benefit plans taken from Form 5500 annual reports and their Schedule A attachments, which plan sponsors file with the U.S. Department of Labor and which the Department publishes. It shows each plan's sponsor, size, renewal month, insurance carriers, premiums, the brokers the carriers reported paying and the amounts, and the names and phone numbers on the filing. You can download what you open as a spreadsheet and, on Pro, send it to an EB Lead Machine workspace. Features may change over time. We may add, change or retire features, and we will tell you in advance if we remove something central to the Service.
3. Your account
- You sign up with an email address and a password. Keep your password private and tell us right away at renewals@ebcatalystgroup.com if you think someone else has used your account.
- Each Starter or Pro subscription is for one person. Do not share your sign-in with anyone else. A team needs a subscription for each person, or a written agreement with us that covers the team.
- Your Renewal Finder account is separate from any account you have for our other tools, such as the Census Converter or EB Lead Machine, even if you use the same email address. Send to Lead Machine finds your Lead Machine workspaces by the email on your Renewal Finder account.
- You are responsible for activity under your account.
- You must be at least 18 and give us accurate sign-up information.
4. Plans and monthly groups
| Plan | States | Groups each calendar month |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | One state each month | 500 |
| Pro | Every state | No monthly limit; includes Send to Lead Machine |
| Agencies (teams, bundles with our other tools) | As agreed in writing | |
The price of each plan is shown on our website and on the checkout page before you subscribe. Plans are billed monthly.
- What counts as a group. Opening a group's details (premium, brokers and their pay, contact and phone numbers) or downloading it counts that group once in a calendar month. Opening or downloading the same group again in that month doesn't count again. Searching, and seeing the employer, city, size, renewal month, carriers and coverage in results, never counts.
- Starter's state. Starter covers one state each calendar month: the state of the first group you open that month. Counts and the state reset at midnight Eastern time on the 1st of each month. Unused groups do not roll over.
- Pro. Pro has no monthly limit for one person's own work. If use on one account is far beyond what one person could do, for example because a sign-in is shared or the data is being copied in bulk for others, we may ask you to move to a team agreement or limit the account.
- How we count. We keep, for each account and month, the number of groups opened, Starter's state, and which groups were opened, so opening one again is free.
- When you change plans, the new plan applies from the moment the change takes effect, and groups you have already opened that month count toward it.
5. Free trial, billing and automatic renewal
- Free trial. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial (or the length shown at sign-up) of the plan they choose. A payment card is required to start it. You are not charged during the trial, and if you cancel before it ends you are not charged at all. The trial is for first-time subscribers only: if you have subscribed before, there is no trial and you are charged when you subscribe.
- Automatic renewal. If you do not cancel before the trial ends (or, without a trial, when you subscribe), your subscription starts automatically and we charge the price of the plan you chose, plus any applicable tax. Your subscription then renews automatically each month, and your card is charged on the same date each month, until you cancel.
- Receipts. Stripe sends a receipt for every charge.
- Payment processing. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number. You authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method for each renewal.
- Failed payments. If a charge fails, Stripe will retry it over the following days, and you keep access meanwhile. If it still fails after the last retry, your subscription is cancelled and access ends. You can subscribe again anytime.
- Price changes. We may change our prices. We will email you 30 days before a new price applies to you, and it takes effect at your next renewal after that notice. You can cancel before it takes effect.
- Promotions and bundles. Promotion codes, bundle discounts and special offers apply only as stated when you redeem them.
6. Changing plans
- You can change your plan anytime from Manage billing in the app.
- Upgrades take effect right away. Moving from Starter to Pro starts immediately: we charge the prorated difference for the rest of the month, and Pro's terms apply at once.
- Downgrades take effect at the end of your billing month. Moving from Pro to Starter takes effect when the month you have already paid for ends. We do not refund or credit the difference.
- If you change plans during your free trial, the trial continues on the new plan, and you are charged for the new plan when the trial ends.
7. Cancellation and refunds
- You can cancel anytime, online, from Manage billing inside the app. You can also email renewals@ebcatalystgroup.com and we will cancel for you.
- If you cancel during the free trial, you are not charged.
- If you cancel after a charge, your subscription stops renewing. You keep access until the end of the month you paid for, and you are not charged again.
- When you cancel, we email you to confirm it, with the date your access ends.
- We do not give refunds or credits for partial months, except where the law requires it.
- If you were charged by mistake, for example after you cancelled or twice for the same period, tell us at renewals@ebcatalystgroup.com within 30 days of the charge and we will refund it in full.
- Full details are on our Cancellation & Refunds page.
8. The data and its limits
- Where it comes from. The data is taken from Form 5500 and Schedule A filings published by the U.S. Department of Labor. We reorganize it (for example, joining a plan's Schedule A contracts and brokers, working out a renewal month, and tidying capitalization) but we do not add facts from other sources.
- It can be out of date or wrong. A filing describes the plan year that ended before it was filed, so information is often a year or more old. Plans change carriers and brokers, filings contain errors, some groups file late or not at all, and smaller fully insured groups usually don't file. The renewal month is our reading of the policy dates on the filing. We do not promise that any information is complete, accurate or current.
- It isn't a quote or advice. Nothing in the Service is an offer of insurance, a rate, or legal, tax or compliance advice.
9. How you may use the data
- You may use what you open and download for your own business: researching, prospecting and serving employers and their plans.
- You will follow the laws that apply to contacting people, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and do-not-call rules, rules on texting, the CAN-SPAM Act and state privacy and telemarketing laws, and honor requests not to be contacted. Phone numbers and names on a filing are business contacts for the plan; that doesn't mean a person has agreed to be called or texted.
- You will not resell, license, publish or give away the data, or build a database or product from it for others, except in your own CRM and work for your own clients.
- You are responsible for how you use the data and for checking it before you rely on it.
10. Carriers and trademarks
EB Catalyst is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor or any insurance carrier, broker, general agency or employer shown in the Service. Names belong to their owners and are shown as they appear in public filings.
11. Acceptable use
You will not:
- share your sign-in, resell the Service, or give anyone outside your subscription access to it;
- copy, reverse engineer, decompile or build a competing product from the Service, except as the law expressly allows;
- get around the sign-in, the subscription check, the state or monthly group limit or any other limit, or interfere with the Service or its security;
- use automated means to scrape or bulk-copy the Service;
- use the data to harass anyone or for any purpose the law forbids; or
- use the Service in a way that breaks any law or any agreement you have with a carrier, employer or client.
12. Our property
We own the Service, including its software, design and the way we organize the data (the filings themselves are public records). While your subscription is active, we give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for your own business under these Terms. You may keep what you download for use under section 9. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them freely.
13. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any information in it is complete, accurate or current.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows: (a) we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, commissions, business or data, even if we were told they were possible; and (b) our total liability for all claims relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.
Some places do not allow some of these limits, so they apply to you only as far as the law permits.
15. Your responsibility to us
You will defend and indemnify EB Catalyst and its owners and staff against third-party claims, and the resulting losses and reasonable costs, that arise from how you use the data (including contacting people), or your breach of these Terms or the law.
16. Suspension and ending the agreement
- You can end this agreement anytime by cancelling your subscription.
- We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if payment fails and is not resolved, or if we need to for security or legal reasons. If we end the Service for reasons other than your breach, we will refund any fees you prepaid for the period after it ends.
- Sections 8, 9 and 12 through 19 survive after the agreement ends, including your duties under section 9 for data you downloaded.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will email you or show a notice in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after the change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, cancel before then. The date at the top shows when these Terms last changed.
18. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing a claim, each of us agrees to try to resolve the dispute informally by email for at least 30 days. Any lawsuit about the Service or these Terms must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, and both of us consent to those courts' jurisdiction.
19. General
- Whole agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Cancellation & Refunds page are the whole agreement between us about the Service. If you sign a separate written agreement with us, such as a team or bundle agreement, that agreement controls where the two conflict.
- Notices. We send notices to the email address on your account. You send notices to renewals@ebcatalystgroup.com.
- Assignment. You may not transfer this agreement without our written consent. We may transfer it as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of the Service.
- Events outside our control. Neither of us is responsible for delays caused by events beyond reasonable control, such as outages at our hosting or payment providers.
- Severability and waiver. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it.
